Forever Friends

Happy Friday to all.

Today I am sharing a Birthday card I made for a very dear friend, Lucinda. I met Lucinda about 5 years ago when we worked as fundraisers for a charity called Mencap. This was a very fulfilling job as we raised money to help people with learning disabilities. Lucinda and I clicked immediately and although I no longer work there we have remained friends. Lucinda loves to dance, walk, cycle-well she is rarely seen resting. I can manage the odd walk with her but otherwise when we are together we drink coffee and natter.

This card I have entered into My Time Made Easy sketch #29.

Used in this card:

Stampin Up paper
Joanna Sheen wordy rubber stamps
Promarkers
Destressed ink

Have a good weekend-in England we are enjoying a very late Summer.

Tuesday 27 September 2011

Well I finally got around to doing a new card. Things have been so busy recently that I have not had time to spend crafting and I have most definetly missed it.

But before I go onto my new card-a belated 'Happy Birthday' to my baby brother Rob. At 42 he is the baby of the family. Here are a couple of photos of Rob-here with his wife, Lisa, this year at her 40th

And here at his 40th proudly wearing the 'Munro' tartan

I see Rob as the calm, wise sibling who is always there when you need him. Rob loves to paint in his spare time but really does underestimate his talents. I am the proud owner of 3 of his paintings and am often asked who the artist is. He works hard and has a great job with the 'Munro Managing' talent! I love him dearly and hope he liked the card I made him (look at my last post to see it).

This week I had a card to make for a friend's son, Gabriel. Now I haven't known him for long but he is one of the most creative kids I have met. I went to have a cuppa with his Mum and he and his sister, Chloe, were in the garden making all GI Joe and GI Jane would need if called up for battle-guns, backpacks, tents and they also had a zip wire made from the washing line-pretty cool! I have seen him building go-karts and battle ships. Gabriel also like dinosaurs so I decided I would make this a dinosaur themed card.

For this I have used a dinosaur image from my collection coloured using promakers, the balloons are a craft creations wordy rubber stamps and coloured with promakers again. Bakers twine is used for the string and the fab paw ribbon you have seen before but still so adorable-not sure dinosaurs have paws but who cares! I inked the edges of the orange paper with destressed ink.

So lets hope Gabriel likes his card. My next challenge is to make his sister a card-she is a tomboy but also likes dolls and sparkly things. She recently went to a 'Stars War' party dressed as Princess Leah in a camoflage outfit!!! mmmm Princess Leah in a camoflage dress-lets see how I do-watch this space....

Up Up and Away...Boy cards

Happy Sunday to all,

I have had little time to craft and, as next week I am again very busy, I was determined to have a go at a challenge this week.

I have a few 'boy cards' that needed to be made and I find that a challenge in itself.
So after hunting through some challenges I thought I would have a go at My Time Made Easy Sketch Challrnge #27

To me this sketch was a real challenge and it took me a good 2 hours to get this card done but I was pleased with the finish. I was unsure how to do the 2 strips at the back of the balloon but came up with the idea of instead of using ribbon or paper/lace, I would use baker twines and buttons-2 craft items I love to use. I think it turned out o.k.

Now all I have to do is decide which 'boy' (well they are men really but aren't all men boys???) this card will go to.

Happy Birthday Tina

Yesterday was my sister Tina's Birthday.

This year has been a good year for Tina she has a new and gorgeous home. It is bright and cheerful and the main thing is it makes her very happy. She has also been promoted this year and is now a Manager of a Library-a promotion that is long over due and she is now in a job I know she will excel at.
Tina loves to travel and has been to many countries in the world experiencing the wonderful cultures and sites this world has to offer.
Tina has many talents and the one that I admire most is her dancing-she can do almost any dance you can think of-jive, salsa, tango and the list goes on.
Last year I spent some time ill and one thing I remember is Tina coming home from work and coming up to my bedroom and just chatting about her day or coming to see me in hospital and just talking about 'normal' everyday things. These were a welcome distraction and meant a lot to me-so thank you Tina x

However one thing that Tina enjoys is a long and restful soak in the bath and so with this in mind I made her this card.

And here is a photo of Tina-on the right-at a party a few years ago, with my Mum, Dad and me. An old photo but one where she does look rather chic!

Happy 6th Wedding Anniversary to us

Tomorrow Callum and I will have been married for 6 years. We got married at sunset in Santorini surrounded by freinds and family. Callum and I are very different in many ways but inspite of this and probably because of this we 'fit' together. With Callum I feel loved and cared for and in him I have found the love I have looked for all my life. He is gorgeous, loving, caring and is my very best friend.

I made this card for him. He has commented a number of times how he likes the cleaner, less fussy cards with the sentiment as the main point. So here I have tried to keep this in mind when making his card. I used the Joanna Sheen wordy stamps for the sentiment (words hard to see here-I need to improve photo skills) and a mixture of different papers and the button is from a selection at Craft Creations

It had been my intention to enter this into The Play Date Cafe challenge but I was too slow and the challenge is closed-better be quicker next week!

And here is a photo of Callum and me under the sunset this Summer in Rhodes.

And finally a photo of my gorgeous husband in Santorini-or as we call it our 'spiritual home' xxx

Love never dies

Just popping in to show you a card I made for my Uncle Tony and Aunt Mary. The will be celebrating their 20th Wedding Anniversary at the beginning of October. I ordered some new stamps from Joanna Sheen and wanted to try them out. They are Joanna Sheen's 'Wordy Stamps' and they have some really great quotes about Love, Friendship and Marriage. It is my 6th Anniversary next week, my Mum and Dad's Anniversary in Nov and we have 2 weddings next year of very good friends so I am prepared for 'Love' crafting.
